How does a grand differ from an upright?
A grand has a horizontal cabinet (wing) — a more powerful, fuller sound, better dynamics and a more responsive repetition action (faster note repetition). An upright is vertical — more compact and affordable, but it falls short of a grand. A grand is chosen for concerts, studios and when quality and looks matter.
What sizes of grand pianos are there?
