Mounting Systems

Drum Mounting Systems — Holders, Clamps, Rack Systems | SoundsGood Ukraine

Drum mounting systems — keep everything in place

Mounting systems are the hardware that holds and connects the parts of a drum kit: tom holders, cymbal boom arms and holders, clamps and multi-clamps, rack systems, isolation suspension mounts (RIMS) and setting locks (memory locks). They let you position toms, cymbals and percussion at a comfortable angle, expand the kit and quickly reproduce positions after teardown. Correct mounting affects ergonomics, resonance and reliability. At SoundsGood you'll find Pearl, Tama, DW, Gibraltar, Mapex and other brands, official warranty and delivery across Ukraine. We'll advise compatible mounts for your kit.

🥁 Types of mounting systems

🥁 Tom holders

Holders, L-rod, ball mount — attach mounted toms to the bass drum, a stand or a rack with angle adjustment. Pearl, Tama.

🔗 Cymbal holders and booms

Boom arms and straight holders — position the cymbal at the required height and angle. Gibraltar, DW.

🔧 Clamps and multi-clamps

Universal clamps — attach extra cymbals, toms or percussion to tubes and frames. Gibraltar, Meinl.

🏗️ Rack systems and mounts

Modular frames, RIMS, memory locks — stability, resonance isolation and repeatable positions. Pearl, Gibraltar.

🔍 What to look for when choosing

📐 Tube diameter & compatibility

Makers use different diameter standards (10.5; 12.7; 22.2 mm). The holder or clamp must fit your stand, rack or kit brand.

⚙️ Mechanism type

Ball tilter, gearless or geared tilt, memory lock for fixing. It affects angle precision and setting repeatability.

🛡️ Material & reliability

Steel and quality casting hold the load and don't creep from vibration. Important for heavy toms and active playing.

➕ Expandability

Clamps and a rack let you grow the kit without new legs. For large setups a rack is handier than a dozen separate stands.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What are drum mounting systems?

The hardware that holds and connects the parts of a kit: tom holders, cymbal booms and holders, clamps and multi-clamps, rack systems, isolation suspension mounts (RIMS) and setting locks (memory locks). They let you position toms, cymbals and percussion at a comfortable angle, expand the kit and quickly reproduce positions. Mounting affects ergonomics, resonance and reliability.

How does a tom holder differ from a cymbal boom?

A tom holder (L-rod, ball mount) attaches a mounted tom to the bass drum, stand or rack with angle adjustment. A boom is an extended rod holding a cymbal over the kit at the required height and angle. They differ by tube diameter and mount type: a tom holder is for the static load of a drum, a boom for the swing of a cymbal.

What is a multi-clamp and why use it?

A universal clamp that attaches to a stand tube or rack frame and lets you add an extra part: another cymbal, tom, percussion or accessory. It saves space and the number of stands and lets you expand the kit flexibly. They come straight, angled or with a double grip. Clamps from Gibraltar, Pearl, Meinl fit standard tube diameters.

What does a rack give?

A drum rack is a modular frame to which toms, cymbals and percussion attach via clamps instead of many stands. Pros: stability, repeatable positions, space saving, fast setup for large kits and stage. Cons: cost, weight, less mobility. For compact kits separate stands are enough; for expanded kits a rack is more convenient.

How to choose a compatible mount?

The key is compatibility by tube diameter and mount type. Makers use different standards (10.5; 12.7; 22.2 mm), so the holder or clamp must fit your stand, rack or kit brand. The tom seat type (L-rod, ball, suspension) also matters. Universal adapters join different brands. Send the kit brand and what to attach — we'll pick it.

What are RIMS mounts and memory locks?

A suspension mount (RIMS) attaches a tom by the rim through isolators without touching the shell, so it resonates freely — longer sustain and better tone. A memory lock is a clamp ring on a tube that 'remembers' height and angle: after assembly you instantly reproduce settings. Both improve sound, convenience and repeatability.

How much do mounting systems cost?

Mostly an affordable accessory category: individual holders, clamps and memory locks are inexpensive, booms and suspension mounts a bit more, full rack systems the most expensive due to the structure. Price depends on brand, material and mechanism complexity. It's often worth taking a clamp with a kit expansion. Check current prices with a manager.
