From 18″ to 26″ and pitched sets, for band and drum corps — Pearl, Tama, Yamaha
Marching bass drums are deep drums worn horizontally on a carrier and played with mallets on both sides. They come as a set of various sizes tuned by pitch: each player plays their own, and together it makes a melodic bass line and a powerful foundation for the section. They come in roughly 14″ to 32″ — from high to low. For bands, schools and drum corps. At SoundsGood — Pearl, Tama, Yamaha, Mapex. We outfit sections and work via Prozorro tenders. ❓ Frequently asked questions
What is a marching bass drum?
A deep drum worn horizontally on a carrier and played with mallets on both sides. They come as a set of various sizes by pitch — each player plays their own, together forming a melodic bass line for the section.
How does it differ from a kit bass?
Marching — horizontal on a carrier, played by hand on both sides, a pitched set. Kit — on the floor, played with the foot via a pedal, usually single, a steady beat. Different instruments for different tasks.
Why a set of different sizes?
Each bass is tuned to its own pitch; when the part 'runs' between players, you get a melodic bass line rather than a steady hit. That's why basses are bought as a set (4–6 pcs), not individually.
What sizes are there?
Roughly 14 to 32″. Small (14–18″) — higher and faster; middle (20–22″) — center; large (24–28″+) — deep low end. A typical set is 4–6 drums.
How is it worn (carrier)?
On a carrier that holds the drum horizontally in front, heads to the sides. It goes on the shoulders and back, gives access to both heads and frees the hands. Sized to the player; separately.
What is it played with?
Special mallets (bass beaters) — one in each hand, on both heads. Softer heads — deeper tone, harder — crisper attack. A consumable accessory.
How to outfit a section?
Usually 4–6 basses with pitch steps, from small to large, plus a carrier and mallets for each. The balance is by number of players. We'll help with the makeup and tender.
Which brands and are there tenders?
Pearl, Tama, Yamaha, Mapex — individual basses and sets, carriers, mallets and heads. We outfit sections turnkey, work via Prozorro. Delivery across Ukraine.
