Wash Moving Heads — Colour Coverage of the Stage in Motion
A wash head is a moving fixture with a wide soft beam that paints the stage with colour in motion: a "moving PAR" with an RGBW array, motorised 4–60° zoom and pan/tilt axes. The foundation of any moving-head rig: wash delivers colour, depth and the background over which spots and beams work. The main classes are mini heads of 7x10 W for bars, the club standard of 19x15 W with zoom, high-power 36x15 W+ units with pixel rings, and IP65 for outdoors. Control is over DMX512. At SoundsGood you will find Eurolite, Showtec, ADJ, Cameo and other brands, official warranty, delivery across Ukraine and Prozorro tenders. We will match a wash to your stage.

🔍 What to Consider When Choosing
🌈 Mixing & Colour
RGBW is the standard; RGBW+Lime and high CRI — for quality skin tones and broadcast work.
🔍 Zoom
A 4–60° range: a narrow angle — a dense ray in haze, a wide one — even coverage from a close truss.
🎨 Pixel Zones
Ring and pixel control of the array — waves, vortices and animations right on the fixture's lens.
🎚️ DMX & Mechanics
From 14 to 100+ channels in pixel modes, fast quiet motors, clamps and safety cables.

❓ FAQ
What is a wash moving head?
A moving head with a wide soft beam that paints the stage with colour in motion — a "moving PAR" with an RGBW array, motorised zoom and pan/tilt axes. It differs from a spot by the absence of gobos, and from a beam by a wide soft beam. Wash is the foundation of any moving-light rig: colour, depth and background.
How many LEDs and what power?
Mini 7x10 W — bars, DJs and stages up to 5–6 m. The club standard 19x15 W RGBW with zoom — confident club-stage coverage. Concerts — 36x15 W+ with pixel zones. More mid-class fixtures beat a couple of super-powerful ones: evenness and symmetry matter more. Send dimensions — we will advise.
Why zoom and what range?
Motorised zoom changes the beam angle 4–60° right within scenes: a narrow angle — a dense coloured ray in haze, a wide one — even coverage from a close truss. Clubs are comfortable with 10–60°; concert fixtures value a 4–7° low end. Mini heads often have a fixed angle — fine for background.
What is pixel control?
LEDs are grouped into zones or rings with separate DMX channels: colour waves across the array, vortices, pulses, animations on the lens — the fixture works as coverage and a visual object at once. The trade-off is 60–100+ channels in pixel mode, needing a capable console or macros. 3–4 zones are enough for a club.
A wash head or a static PAR?
Two layers of one system: PARs give constant even coverage cheaper, wash heads add motion — colour follows the performer, beams gather into fans. The scheme: base level on PARs (front and backlight), wash heads on the rear truss as the dynamic layer. Tight budget — start with PARs, then add wash.
How many wash heads do I need?
Even numbers and symmetry: a minimum of 2 at the stage edges; the club standard is 4–6 in a line along the rear truss plus a pair on the floor for backlight rays. With spots the classic ratio is 1:1. And do not forget a hazer: without mist the beams are invisible. Send dimensions — we will calculate the kit.
How much do wash heads cost?
Mini 7x10 W — the most affordable entry, bought in fours. Club 19x15 W with zoom — the optimum of price and capability. High-power 36x15 W+ with pixels and rings — the upper niche, as are IP65 versions. Brand, array, zoom range and pixel zones set the price. Heads are bought in pairs. Check prices with our manager.
