📏 14″ (light)

Lighter and more comfortable — for younger players and school bands. Less volume, easier control.

🎯 16″ (versatile)

The standard size with a good balance of volume and control. The optimal choice for most bands.

🔊 18″ (powerful)

A louder, fuller sound with more projection. For large bands, parades and powerful climaxes.

🎻 Orchestral (concert)

A thinner, more complex sound with wide dynamics for symphonic music where nuance and quiet matter.

🎯 How to choose marching cymbals

📏 Size

14″ — light for school; 16″ — versatile; 18″ — powerful for large bands. To the ensemble's and player's size.

⚖️ Weight

Heavier — louder and more durable for a parade; lighter — more controllable and comfortable. Affects sound and endurance.

🔔 Alloy

B20/B8 bronze gives a different timbre — from complex to brighter. It affects the cymbals' character and price.

🪢 Straps and pads

Needed for grip and hand protection. Sometimes included, sometimes separate — we'll match compatible ones.

🎼 Marching or orchestral

Marching — heavier, for the street and parade; orchestral — for the symphony with wide dynamics and nuance.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What are marching cymbals?

A pair of cymbals played by clashing one against the other, held by leather straps with pads. For marching and wind bands, drum corps and symphony — accents, climaxes, shine. Not placed on a stand.

How do they differ from cymbals on a stand?

Marching — a pair, clash play, held by straps without a stand. Kit ones (crash, ride, hi-hat) — single on stands, played with sticks. Marching ones are often heavier and more durable.

What size to choose?

14″ — light for school; 16″ — versatile; 18″ — powerful for large bands. The larger the diameter, the louder, fuller and with more projection, but heavier.

Marching or orchestral?

Marching — heavier, for the street, parade and movement. Orchestral (concert) — various weights, a thinner more complex sound with wide dynamics for the symphony, where nuance matters.

What are straps and pads?

Straps — leather loops through the hole in the bell for grip; pads protect the hands and improve control. Needed for playing as a pair; consumable, often separate.

How do you play hand cymbals?

Bring them together with a glancing strike at a slight angle (to avoid an 'air lock'), getting a full 'crash'. You can vary: a short accent, an open sound, or dampening against the body.

How to choose for a school or band?

School — lighter and more affordable (14–16″); wind and symphonic — higher-quality pairs of the right weight for the repertoire. Plus straps, pads and a bag. We'll help with the makeup and tender.

Which brands and are straps needed?

Zildjian, Sabian, Meinl, Paiste — pairs of 14/16/18″ with straps, pads and bags. Straps and pads are sometimes separate — we'll advise. Delivery across Ukraine; Prozorro tenders.
