Wings come with 10, 20 or more faders, with motorised or ordinary faders. They're combined with programmers and playback panels into a single control system. Q: Why do you need a programmer?

A programmer (command or programmer wing) is a surface for fast show programming: a set of encoders for adjusting fixture parameters (colour, gobo, focus, moving-head position) and command keys for patching, recording cues and building sequences. It speeds up work compared with control by mouse and keyboard alone, especially on large shows with many fixtures. Q: How does a playback panel differ from an execute panel?

A playback wing has faders — usually motorised — for launching, mixing and smoothly crossfading between cues, chases and effects in real time. Q: Do you need motorised faders?

Motorised faders automatically set to the right position when you change the playback page, so the physical position always matches the stored level — convenient and precise on complex shows with many cue pages. Non-motorised faders are cheaper, but when you change the page their position isn't updated automatically. For active live work with many playbacks motorised wings are more convenient; for simple tasks ordinary ones are enough. We'll suggest the optimal option for your budget and playing style.
