Spot Moving Heads — Patterns and Accents with a Focused Beam
A spot head is a moving fixture with a focused, crisp-edged beam that draws across the stage with gobo templates (patterns, stars, logos), multiplies the beam with a prism and sharpens it with focus. The most versatile moving head type: paired with wash heads it forms the backbone of any dynamic show. The main classes are mini heads of 30–75 W for bars, the club standard of 100–150 W, high-power 200–400 W units with CMY mixing and zoom, and IP65 for outdoors. Control is over DMX512. At SoundsGood you will find Eurolite, Showtec, ADJ, Cameo and other brands, official warranty, delivery across Ukraine and Prozorro tenders. We will match a spot to your stage.

❓ FAQ
What is a spot moving head?
A moving head with a focused, crisp-edged beam: the gobo wheel projects patterns, the prism multiplies the beam, focus sharpens it. It differs from wash by its focused optics and gobos, and from beam by a wider beam with projection. The most versatile moving head type.
What power should I choose?
Mini 30–75 W — bars, DJs and stages up to 5–6 m. The club standard 100–150 W — confident gobo projection and a full effects package. Concerts and high rigging — 200–400 W with CMY and zoom. The rule: the spot must cut through the stage's wash light, so match or exceed your wash fixtures' class.
What is a gobo and can I use my logo?
A gobo is a wheel template projecting a pattern onto the stage or walls; a typical spot carries 1–2 wheels of 6–8 gobos, some rotating. Many models take interchangeable gobos — you can order a custom template with a logo or the newlyweds' names. We will suggest compatible models and help with ordering.
What do the prism, focus, zoom and frost give?
The prism splits the beam into 3–8 facets and spins them — a fan pattern from one fixture. Focus sharpens the gobo at different distances. Zoom changes the beam angle; motorised zoom animates in scenes. Frost softens the beam almost to a wash effect. More options — more flexible scenes.
CMY or a colour wheel?
The wheel — 7–9 fixed filters with stepped switching: simple, reliable, the mini and club standard. CMY — three smooth filters, any shade and seamless fades; appears from roughly 200 W, often with CTO. A wheel is enough for a club; theatres and large shows call for CMY.
How many DMX channels and what console?
A club spot takes 12–16 channels; powerful units with CMY and zoom — 20–30+; reduced and extended modes exist. For 4–8 heads — a controller with a joystick and scene/chase banks, or PC software with USB-DMX. Each head gets a start address; daisy-chain with a terminator. We will map the addressing for free.
How much do spot heads cost?
Mini 30–75 W — the most affordable entry. Club 100–150 W — the optimum of price and capability. High-power 200–400 W with CMY, zoom and animation — the upper niche, as are IP65 versions. Brand, power, optics, gobo wheels and the colour system set the price. Heads are bought in pairs. Check prices with our manager.
