A Wash gives wide soft coverage with zoom and RGBW mixing — a "moving PAR" that paints the stage with colour in motion; the foundation of any moving-head rig. A Beam forms a very narrow, dense 2–5° ray that spectacularly cuts through hazy air — the key tool of club and concert shows, but nearly useless without haze. How many moving heads do I need for a stage?

The minimum expressive kit is 4 heads: two wash for colour and two spot for patterns, placed symmetrically at the stage edges or on the rear truss. For a club or a medium 8–10 m stage, a good level is 6–8 heads in two rows (front and rear), producing volumetric fans of beams. Large concert stages are counted in dozens of fixtures along truss lines. Important: heads love symmetry and even numbers — movement scenes are built mirror-wise. Add a fog machine or hazer, otherwise the beams (especially from beam fixtures) will be invisible in the air. Do moving heads need haze?

Yes, and it is critical for the spectacle. A beam of light is visible in the air only when it has something to reflect off — the finest particles of fog or haze. Without them, heads merely paint spots on the floor and walls, and all the volumetric fans, tunnels and beam rays disappear. Clubs and concerts use a hazer — it creates a light, even mist that is almost invisible to the eye but reveals beams beautifully and lingers long. A fog machine produces dense plumes for specific show moments. For installed systems, mind the ventilation and smoke detectors — we will advise how to coordinate. A hazer is the first accessory worth adding to a moving-head kit.

How much do moving lights cost?

The range is the widest in stage lighting. Mini wash heads and compact spots for bars and mobile DJs are the affordable category. The club standard — 100–150 W LED spots and 19x15 W wash heads with zoom — is the mid bracket. Powerful 250–400 W fixtures, beam/spot/wash hybrids, models with CMY mixing and high CRI occupy the upper niche, as do outdoor IP65 touring versions.
