Stage Keyboards 76 Keys (6 Octaves) — Nord, Kurzweil, Yamaha, Korg | SoundsGood Ukraine

Compact 76-Key Stage Keyboards (~6 Octaves) — Range and Weight Balance

76-key stage keyboards (about 6 octaves) are the sweet spot between 61 and 88: more range for piano and pop repertoire, but less weight and size than 88-key ones. Weighted and semi-weighted models, great grand, electric piano and organ sounds, professional PA outputs. At SoundsGood — Nord (Stage 76), Kurzweil (Forte 7, PC4-7) and the close 73-key format (Yamaha CP73, Korg SV-2), originals with a warranty. Delivery across Ukraine via Nova Poshta; pickup in Kyiv. We'll suggest a model for your role.

🎤 Who a 76-key stage instrument is for

📈 Outgrowing 61

More range for piano and pop repertoire, where 61 keys is already 'not enough', but without the full weight of 88. A logical next step.

🎒 Touring musicians

Noticeably lighter than 88 — easier to carry to gigs and rehearsals, without sacrificing most of the range.

🎛️ All-rounders

Both piano and organ with synth — 76 keys cover a wide repertoire. Suits keyboardists who play different roles in a band.

🎹 As a second instrument

In a multi-tier rig — more playing room than 61, at moderate weight. A good top or middle tier.

🆚 61, 76 or 88 keys for stage

76 keys is the sweet spot: wider range than 61 at less weight than 88. Alongside it is the close 73-key format with the same logic.

🔍 What to look at when choosing

🎹 Keyboard type

Weighted (Kurzweil Forte 7) — a full piano feel; semi-weighted (some Nord Stage 76) — faster, versatile for organ and synth. Choose by repertoire.

🎵 Sound engines

Grand, electric piano, organ, synth — Nord and Kurzweil have strong grands and EP. The more quality engines, the more versatile for a band.

🔊 Speakers and connectors

Usually no speakers — connect to a PA. Check the outputs (jack/XLR), pedal inputs, MIDI/USB. Many models also work as a master keyboard.

⚖️ Weight and brand

Less weight than 88 is the main advantage of the format. Choose originals from known brands (Nord, Kurzweil, Yamaha, Korg) with an official warranty.

❓ Frequently asked questions

How much is 76 keys in octaves?

76 keys is about 6 octaves (more precisely, 6 full octaves plus a few more notes). An intermediate format between 61 (5 octaves) and 88 (the full range). For stage — the sweet spot: more range than 61, less weight than 88.

Why is 76 keys the sweet spot?

76 keys cover most stage repertoire, unlike 61 where range is sometimes too small, while the instrument is lighter and more compact than 88. Alongside it is the close 73-key format (Yamaha CP73, Korg SV-2) with the same logic.

Who is it for?

Those who outgrow 61 and want a wider range, but value less weight than 88. Touring keyboardists, all-rounders and as a second instrument in a rig. Classical pianists with the full range are better with 88.

What keys?

It depends on the model: weighted (Kurzweil Forte 7 — a piano feel) and semi-weighted (some Nord Stage 76 — faster, for organ and synth). For classical — weighted; for organ and synth — semi-weighted.

How does 76 differ from 61 and 88?

61 (5 octaves) — the lightest, often waterfall. 76 (≈6 octaves) — more range, moderate weight, versatile. 88 — the full piano range with weighted action, the heaviest. 76 is the balance. Alongside it, 73 is the same class.

Speakers and connectors?

Most have no built-in speakers (connect to a PA). Jack outputs (sometimes XLR), pedal inputs, MIDI and USB, headphones. Many models also work as a master MIDI keyboard. Check a model's set.

Which brands and models?

Actual 76: Nord (Stage 76), Kurzweil (Forte 7, PC4-7). Close 73 format: Yamaha CP73, Korg SV-2 73. Originals with a warranty. Need the full range — we'll suggest 88; maximum lightness — 61.
