Why a fog generator?
Fog reveals the light: the beams of heads, scanners and beams are visible only when they reflect off particles in the air. The second use is atmosphere: fog in photo and video frames, theatre scenes, clouds for the first dance. Control — a button, a remote or DMX.
Fog generator, fog machine, hazer — the difference?
One family: stage smoke is fog with no combustion. A fog machine gives dense clouds in bursts, a hazer — a light mist for hours, a low fog generator — clouds along the floor, a fazer — a hybrid. Choosing a fog generator means choosing between these types.
How does low fog work?
The fog is cooled (dry ice, CO2 or a built-in cooling circuit) and creeps along the floor no higher than the knees — dancing on the clouds. Safe and melts without a trace; the key is to switch off air conditioning and draughts during the effect.
What are portable generators?
Battery models the size of a thermos for photographers and videographers: fog in the frame anywhere — a forest, a flat, a rooftop — with no socket. A charge lasts dozens of bursts. For dance floors their output is not enough — mains machines from 900 W work there.
What fluid and consumption?
Fog fluids of three densities: heavy hangs 10–20 min, medium is the club standard, quick vanishes in 1–3 min (handy between frames). A hazer takes a separate haze fluid. Consumption: a machine 1–3 l/evening, a hazer 0.08–0.2 l/h, a portable — millilitres per session. Branded formulas only.
Is the fog safe? What about detectors?
The water-glycol aerosol is non-toxic and contains no combustion products; density is higher right at the nozzle — keep faces away from it. Optical fire detectors read fog as smoke — agree its use with the venue administration under the procedure.
How much do the generators cost?
Compact 400–900 W machines and portable models are the most affordable. The mid bracket — 1200–1500 W with DMX and club hazers. The upper niche — touring machines and low fog generators with cooling. Plus the fluid: a 5 l canister per event. Check prices with our manager.
