The fog machine's heater vaporises the formula, and the vapour condenses in the air into the finest droplets — they are what we see as white smoke; there is no combustion and no combustion products in the process. Quality branded fluids (Eurolite, Showtec, ADJ, Cameo) are non-toxic, have no lasting smell, do not irritate the airways when dosed correctly and do not settle as a film on furniture, equipment and clothing. Can I pour fog fluid into a hazer, or haze fluid into a fog machine?

No. Fog fluid is thicker and designed for a fog machine's powerful heater: in a hazer it clogs the fine nozzles and compressor and leaves deposits — the unit loses output and its warranty. Haze fluid in a classic fog machine gives a barely visible output — pointless. The only legitimate exception is fazer machines: these hybrids are engineered precisely for ordinary fog fluid. The ban on home-made mixtures is even stricter: pharmacy glycerine with tap water looks like savings, but tap water leaves scale on the heater, eyeballed proportions give unstable fog, and impurities produce smell and residue; a heater repair costs more than years of branded fluid, and the machine's warranty is lost.
