Why does a light show need fog?
The beams of heads, scanners and beams are visible only when light reflects off mist particles — without fog the fixtures draw spots on the floor, with it the air fills with fans and tunnels. The second scenario is atmospheric effects in their own right: clouds on the dance floor, low fog for the first dance.
A fog machine or a hazer?
A fog machine works in bursts: a dense, fast-dissipating cloud for one-off moments. A hazer creates a light, even mist continuously and holds it for hours — the club standard where beams must stay visible all evening. Ideally have both: the hazer holds the background, the machine adds accents.
How does low fog work?
The mist is cooled (dry ice, CO2 or built-in cooling) and creeps along the floor in clouds no higher than the knees — the dancing-on-the-clouds effect. Safe for guests and melts without a trace; the key is to switch off air conditioning and draughts, or the clouds will scatter.
What fluid is needed?
Dense — for large halls, medium — universal, quick-dissipating — for small rooms. A hazer takes a separate haze fluid. Branded formulas only: cheap ones leave deposits and void the warranty. Consumption: a machine — 1–3 l per evening, a hazer — 0.1–0.2 l/h. Keep a reserve.
Is the fog safe? What about detectors?
The water-glycerine mist is non-toxic and contains no combustion products. But optical fire detectors read it as smoke — fog use is agreed with the venue administration, detectors in the effect zone are switched to the appropriate mode under the procedure, and ventilation is monitored.
