🏆 Popular Used Clarinets
💰 Why Buy a Used Clarinet
📐 Save 30–50%!
Buffet R13 new = $3000–4500. Used = $1500–2500. Buffet RC/Festival new = $4000–6000. Used = $2000–3500. Yamaha YCL-650 used = from $800. A professional clarinet = affordable through used!
📐 «Played in» = better sound!
Clarinet = wooden instrument (grenadilla / African blackwood). New wood needs to be «played in» — gradual stabilization. A used clarinet = ALREADY played in! Stable wood, mature, warm, resonant sound. Many clarinetists SPECIFICALLY seek used instruments!
📐 A used R13 = every student's dream!
Buffet Crampon R13 = the orchestral clarinet standard since 1955. New = expensive. Used = at new-student price! A student with a used R13 plays a BETTER instrument than one with a new budget model. After service at «SoundsGood Services» = like new!
🎵 Bb and A Clarinets
📐 Bb Clarinet ⭐⭐
THE STANDARD! 90% of situations. Orchestra, chamber, solo, jazz, big band, education. First clarinet = always Bb. All models listed below = Bb. If you need one clarinet = Bb!
📐 A Clarinet
For orchestra! Some orchestral parts are written for clarinet in A (Mozart, Brahms, Tchaikovsky). Slightly longer than Bb, slightly darker tone. Orchestral players need BOTH (Bb + A). A used A clarinet = significant savings! New A = more expensive than Bb.
📐 Bass Clarinet
Large! An octave below Bb. For: orchestra, ensembles, jazz (Eric Dolphy!). New = very expensive ($5000–15000+). Used = significant savings! Selmer, Buffet, Yamaha.

🔧 Clarinet Service at «SoundsGood Services»
📐 The Only Official Repair Center! ⭐⭐
«SoundsGood Services» = the only official wind instrument repair center in Ukraine! A clarinet = a wooden instrument with complex keywork. Requires qualified, specialized service!
📐 Body — Crack Check ⭐⭐
THE MOST IMPORTANT! The wooden body can crack from temperature and humidity swings. We check EVERY millimeter! Upper joint, lower joint, bell. Under the keys! If a crack is found = we don't sell, or we repair (pinning).
📐 Pads ⭐
Clarinet = 17 keys + rings. Every pad must be perfectly airtight. Worn = air leaks = clarinet won't play. We check each one! Replace worn pads. Full repad = $300–600. At SoundsGood = replaced before sale.
📐 Mechanics and Corks
Mechanics: key smoothness, springs, play, adjustment. Tenon corks: upper + lower joint + barrel + bell = 4 joints. Corks must be springy! We replace worn corks.
📐 Testing & Warranty
After service = tested by a professional clarinetist! Sound, intonation, response, register evenness, «break» notes (throat tones!). Warranty from «SoundsGood Services»! Any issue = free repair. The only official repair center!
⚠️ Cracks — The Most Important Thing!
📐 Wood is sensitive! ⭐⭐
Clarinet = grenadilla (African blackwood). Hard, dense wood. Sensitive to temperature and humidity changes! Frost → warm room = crack risk. Dry winter heating = risk. A crack = air escapes = clarinet won't play.
📐 Where to look
1. Upper joint = most common! Near the tenon, around the register key. 2. Lower joint = less common. 3. Bell = rarest. 4. Under the keys! Cracks are often hidden. «SoundsGood Services» = checked under magnification!
📐 Pinning = crack repair
Cracks can be repaired! Pinning = inserting metal pins + glue. Quality pinning = the clarinet plays on. But: not 100% guaranteed against recurrence. Better = no cracks! At «SoundsGood Services» = thoroughly inspected.
