The maker calls it "extremely stable" and "the warmest sound among our PETER INFELD violin E-strings", with easy playability suited to very quick playing. The other three voices are identical to the senior set: a synthetic multifilament core, aluminium A at 5.6 kp, silver D at 4.8 kp and silver G at 4.7 kp, for a total of 23.4 kp (51.6 lb) over a 32.5 cm vibrating length. Of the line itself Thomastik writes that the strings "are very reliable — and they are a special tool that makes it easy for you to sound great", offering a substantial amount of colours while leaving the player in control at all times. The trade-off of tin plating is stated openly: it is less corrosion-resistant if you sweat a lot.

The Tin-Plated E Is the Warmest of the Three, and the Calmest

The top voice here does not cut or whistle on every crossing: Thomastik calls PI01SN the warmest E in the line and singles out its extreme stability and easy playability for very quick playing. In solo repertoire with long notes in third position that means an even, controllable attack with no metallic ring; in fast passages it means the string speaks immediately, without lag. The platinum E is brighter and more focused but whistles more readily — here the choice went to a calmer bow arm.

The synthetic core on the A, D and G does not shed its overtones after a week of hard rehearsal, so the window in which the strings still sound new is noticeably wider than with mid-range synthetics. What You Can Swap Here Without Upsetting the Balance

Two substitutions are standard. The E: platinum PI01PT and gold-plated PI01AU both pull the same 8.3 kp, so either drops in where the tin-plated one was with no need to reset the rest — that is the route to the clarity of PI100, or to a gold E that is warm and very clear at once. The D: silver PI03A (4.8 kp) can be replaced by aluminium PI03 (4.6 kp), which the maker recommends for instruments that sound very dark and for those needing extra colours, since aluminium yields a coarser-grained bow noise. The G exists in one form only — silver PI04, with no alternative in the line.
