Wired networking for Hi-Fi components
The NuPrime SW Ultimate Silver is a managed Gigabit switch with Layer 2/Layer 3 functions for an audio system’s wired network. It connects streamers, music servers, NAS units and other Ethernet devices. The switch transports network data and does not contain a DAC or analogue audio outputs.
Copper and optical connections
There are 12 RJ-45 1GbE ports and four 1000BASE-X SFP slots for compatible optical modules. The SFP interfaces are shared with RJ-45 ports 9–12: only one connection type in each pair can be active at a time. This means a maximum of 12 simultaneous connections, rather than 16 independent ports.
An optical link requires a compatible SFP module and cable. This model’s SFP interfaces are Gigabit connections, not 10-Gigabit SFP+ ports.
Power and clocking
The design uses a NuPrime Power Engine supply with AC noise filtering and a TCXO clock. The BNC input accepts a 10 MHz square-wave external reference signal, with a switch selecting the internal or external clock. A separate external clock is not required for normal operation.
