Speech and presentations
The Audix ADX18 is designed for podiums, lecterns, meeting rooms and presentations. Its pre-polarized condenser capsule uses a cardioid pickup pattern to focus on the speaker while reducing sound from other directions. The frequency range is 40 Hz–18 kHz. A slim profile and matte black finish keep the microphone unobtrusive in front of the presenter.
Flexible positioning
Flexible sections at the top and bottom let you aim the capsule to suit the speaker and the lectern. The central section maintains the overall shape. Adjust the position so speech remains clear at a comfortable speaking distance. Moving slightly out of the direct breath stream and fitting the windscreen help reduce breath noise and plosive sounds.
Connecting the system
The preamplifier is integrated into the lower XLR section. Connect its three-pin male XLR output to a compatible microphone input providing 18–52 V phantom power. Mute the channel before connecting or disconnecting the microphone. A compatible desktop base may be selected separately, while the microphone also supports permanent installation using mounting hardware.
Package and installation
The package includes the ADX18 microphone, a windscreen and a flange mount. Select cabling and audio equipment for the intended installation. After mounting, set the gain and check speech intelligibility from the actual speaking position. Loudspeaker placement and room acoustics still matter: the directional capsule assists sound control alongside a properly arranged sound system.
