A miniature microphone for distance miking
The Audix M1255B is a compact cardioid condenser microphone with high sensitivity for distance miking. Applications include choirs, vocal ensembles, conferencing and room ambience. Its small body allows discreet placement above performers or near a speaker while keeping sightlines open. Cardioid pickup helps focus on the intended area within the wider acoustic space.
Capsule and integrated electronics
The microphone combines a 12 mm diaphragm with an integrated preamp. Its frequency range is 50 Hz–19 kHz. RF protection helps reduce radio-frequency interference, while the machined brass body has a black finish. Adjust source distance and angle for the required balance of direct sound and room acoustics, then check the result with a test recording.
Cable connection and phantom power
Connect the microphone using the supplied detachable cable, with mini-XLR female at the microphone end and XLR male at the equipment end. Phantom power is required; a standard 48 V supply is suitable. Use a microphone input on a mixer, preamplifier or audio interface. If that input cannot provide phantom power, add a compatible separate supply.
Supplied mounting accessories
The package contains the M1255B, detachable cable, MCMICRO stand adapter, MCHANGER hanging clip and WS1218 foam windscreen. These accessories support stand mounting or suspended placement. Choose specialist instrument mounts and boom arms separately. After installation, check capsule direction, mounting security and cable routing to avoid unnecessary strain on the microphone.
