Acoustic measurement
The Audix TM1 is designed for acoustic testing and measurement with room analysis software, real-time analyzers and other sound analysis equipment. Its 6 mm pre-polarized condenser capsule has an omnidirectional pickup pattern. Capturing sound from different directions makes it useful when assessing a room and its sound system, with appropriate analysis equipment selected for the task.
Connection and power
A three-pin male XLR output connects the microphone to a suitable microphone input. The TM1 requires phantom power and works with a standard 48 V supply from a preamplifier, mixer or audio interface. Mute the channel before connecting, then set a suitable gain level without clipping. Keep the measurement chain settings consistent when comparing results between positions.
Construction and placement
The precision-machined brass body has a nickel finish and a narrow front section for positioning at the measurement point. Shock-absorbing O-rings are incorporated into the construction. The supplied DCLIP holder supports mounting on a suitable microphone stand. Protect the capsule from moisture and impact, and route the cable so it does not pull the microphone out of position.
Package and other uses
The package contains one TM1 microphone, a DCLIP holder and a carrying pouch. The microphone can also capture acoustic instruments and room ambience. Measurement results depend on placement, analyzer settings and the acoustic environment. Record the stand position and signal levels before a measurement series so that subsequent comparisons use the same conditions.
