Cort KX507 Multi Scale (Star Dust Black) — a 7-string electric guitar with a double-cutaway body. Its defining specifications include a HH pickup configuration, 24 frets and a 25.5″-27″ Multi-Scale (648mm-686mm) scale. It combines a fixed bridge for playing without a vibrato arm with controls that let you change textures within the same instrument.

Construction and materials

Body: Mahogany. Neck: Maple & Purple heart 5-ply Laminated. Top: Poplar Burl. Neck construction: Bolt-On. The cutaway design provides access to upper positions for melodic phrases and transitions from rhythm to lead playing.

Neck and playing feel

Fingerboard: Macassar Ebony, with a 15.75″ (R400) radius. Neck profile: D Shape. The nut width is 52.3 mm. There are 24 frets; this determines the available upper register together with scale length and tuning.

A multiscale layout gives bass and treble strings different speaking lengths. The longer bass side increases tension at the same gauge and pitch, while the shorter treble side keeps bends manageable. Consider how the fan of the frets fits your normal fretting-hand position.

Pickups and controls

Pickups: Fishman® Fluence Modern Humbucker Set. The HH layout uses neck and bridge humbuckers. Controls: 1-Volume (Push-pull), 1-Tone (Push-pull), 3-Way Toggle Switch.

The Volume push-pull selects Voice 1 or Voice 2; the Tone push-pull selects full humbucker or coil-split operation. These are distinct functions: Fishman voicing changes the response, while splitting provides an alternative to full dual-coil operation.

Bridge and tuning hardware

Bridge: Individual Bridge with String Thru Body. Tuners: Cort® Locking Tuners.

The fixed bridge has no moving tremolo platform, making it practical for riff playing and a chosen tuning. After changing gauge, check intonation, neck relief and string height to maintain comfortable action and accurate chords across the fingerboard.

Choosing this guitar for your music

7 strings extend the lower register while retaining room for chords and melodies above it. Consider this model for modern metal, progressive music and arrangements built around low riffs. Careful muting keeps complex parts clear.
