Play guitar with a phone or tablet
The IK Multimedia iRig 2 connects an electric guitar or bass to a compatible mobile device for playing, practice and recording with music apps. The instrument connects to the 6.35 mm input, and the built-in 3.5 mm TRRS cable connects to the device’s headset input. It is an analogue interface, rather than a USB sound card with its own digital converters.
Amplifier and headphones
A separate 6.35 mm output connects to a guitar amplifier. FX mode sends the app-processed signal, while THRU passes the direct instrument signal. A 3.5 mm headphone output enables quiet practice. The Gain thumbwheel adjusts input sensitivity.
Compatibility and package
A 3.5 mm headset input with CTIA/AHJ wiring and microphone support is required. Devices with only Lightning or USB-C need a suitable headset adapter that supports microphone input; a headphone-output-only adapter is insufficient. The adapter is sold separately.
- Instrument input: 6.35 mm, 380 kohm input impedance.
- Amplifier output: 6.35 mm; headphone output: 3.5 mm.
- Dimensions: 72 × 39 × 21 mm; weight 43 g.
- Includes iRig 2, a detachable mount and a hook-and-loop strip for a microphone stand.
Effects processing takes place in an app on the connected device; the iRig 2 does not model amplifiers by itself.
