Digital guitar recording
The IK Multimedia iRig HD 2 is a compact audio interface for recording electric guitar or bass on a compatible iPhone, iPad, Mac or Windows computer. Built-in 24-bit converters support sample rates up to 96 kHz. The 6.35 mm instrument input has adjustable gain and can also accept a suitable line-level signal from a keyboard or mixer.
Listening and stage connections
The 3.5 mm headphone output has its own level control. A separate 6.35 mm Amp Out connects to a guitar amplifier: FX sends the app-processed signal, while THRU passes the direct instrument signal. Amplifier modelling and effects run in software on the connected device.
Mobile operation
- Digital connection to compatible Lightning or USB devices through the appropriate cable.
- Power supplied by the connected mobile device or USB.
- Input gain adjustment range: 28.7 dB.
- Detachable microphone-stand mount and hook-and-loop strip.
- Dimensions: 39 × 99 × 21 mm; weight 51 g.
For low-latency operation on Windows, the manufacturer provides the iRig ASIO driver. Compatibility depends on the operating system, cable and recording application. The iRig HD 2 has no XLR microphone input or phantom power.
