Capsule for a modular system
The AKG CK33 is a replaceable condenser capsule in the Discreet Acoustics Modular range. Pair it with a compatible DAM installation module chosen for the mounting location and application. This combines the required pickup pattern with an appropriate mounting arrangement, such as a gooseneck or suspension module. The capsule has a compact metal housing.
Hypercardioid pickup
Its hypercardioid pattern helps reduce unwanted sound arriving from the sides and focuses pickup on the speaker. The frequency range is 50 Hz–20 kHz. Aim the capsule at the source and consider loudspeaker placement and room acoustics. Positioning matters especially when other sound sources or microphones are operating nearby.
Threaded connection and power
The capsule screws onto a compatible installation module, with contacts providing the electrical connection. Power reaches the capsule through the appropriate module and its DPA or DPA-P adapter. Supported phantom-powered configurations use a microphone input supplying 9–52 V. The chosen installation module determines the output connector and wiring arrangement.
Windscreen and installation
A two-part W30 windscreen is included to help reduce air noise and vocal plosives. The installation module and required mounting hardware are selected separately. Switch the sound system off before replacing a capsule and align the fine thread carefully when fitting it. After installation, check microphone positioning and input gain from the speaker’s actual working position.
