Why the 22.6 kp Sit Where They Do
The E is the tightest string here for a reason: a steel voice has to survive real bow pressure in the upper positions, otherwise it hisses instead of singing. From there tension falls off gently — 5.4, then 4.7, then 4.5 kp — so moving from A to D and from D to G does not retrain your left hand: the same finger pressure gives the same pitch. The bow arm meets even resistance across all four strings, and in chords no single voice jumps out in front.
Three Metals for Three Different Jobs

How does 411021 differ from set 411521?
Only in the E: 411521 uses an unplated plain steel E at 7.7 kp, which brings the set total to 22.3 kp instead of 22.6. The A, D and G are the same in both — aluminium and twice silver.
Why are the D and G silver rather than gold?
In the Obligato violin range the gold plating is applied to the E only; the G exists solely as a silver-wound string (art. 411421) — there is no gold-wound Obligato G. The D comes two ways: silver 411321 (4.7 kp), as in this set, and aluminium 411821 (4.3 kp) as a single string.
