A lavalier for a wired setup
The AKG C417 PP suits speech reinforcement, presentations, broadcast and theatrical work. Its small microphone body attaches to clothing, leaving the speaker’s hands free. A matte black finish helps it blend with darker costumes. The PP version is convenient where a wired connection to a mixer or another device with a microphone input is required.
Omnidirectional sound pickup
The pre-polarized condenser capsule has an omnidirectional pattern and a frequency response of 20 Hz–20 kHz. It picks up sound around the capsule, allowing flexibility in its placement on clothing. Distance from the mouth, room acoustics and loudspeaker positioning still matter. Listen to the voice with the speaker in their normal position before starting.
XLR and phantom power
The C417 PP cable carries an adapter with a full-size three-pin male XLR output. It operates from 9–52 V phantom power supplied by a compatible microphone input. This arrangement connects to an appropriate mixer, microphone preamp or audio interface. Set the input gain using the actual speaking level, leaving headroom for emphasis and louder passages.
Accessories for mounting
The package includes an H40/1 attachment clip, an H41 tie pin and a W407 windscreen. Choose a mounting method appropriate to the clothing and route the cable without tension. Keep fabric, collars and jewellery from rubbing against the capsule. After final placement, make a short voice check to assess the level and any handling noise during movement.
