Contact pickup for acoustic instruments
The AKG C411 L converts vibrations from an acoustic instrument's soundboard into an electrical signal. A condenser transducer sits inside its compact sealed enclosure. Designed for acoustic guitar, violin, mandolin, banjo and other string instruments, it attaches directly to the instrument and maintains its chosen position without requiring a separate microphone stand.
Placement shapes the sound
The included solvent-free adhesive compound secures the pickup on or near the bridge. Different parts of a soundboard vibrate differently, so moving the C411 L changes the captured tone. Try several positions to find a useful balance for the instrument. Check the condition of lacquer before attachment, particularly where a finish is cracked or porous.
Mini-XLR connection and power
The L version has a permanently attached 1.5 m cable with a 3-pin mini-XLR connector. It needs power from a compatible AKG bodypack, a separate B23 L battery supply or an MPA V L phantom adapter. For wired use, the MPA V L connects to a balanced microphone input providing phantom power.
Package and practical setup
The package includes one C411 L pickup, adhesive compound and a carrying bag. Select a transmitter or external power device separately to match the system. Route the cable so that it does not pull on the pickup. Set the input gain while playing at normal performance levels and check the instrument's balance within the mix.
