The foundation of a modular ULS microphone
The AKG C480 B ULS is a microphone preamplifier and powering module for interchangeable Ultra Linear Series capsules. It accepts CK61, CK62, CK63 and CK69 ULS capsules. The chosen capsule determines the pickup pattern and application of the assembled microphone, allowing one electronic foundation to support different recording requirements.
Adjustable level for the recording chain
The C480 B provides −10, 0 and +6 dB level settings. Attenuation helps match its output to the following input stage when working with louder sources. Additional gain can be useful when the level reaching the capsule is lower. Choose the setting to suit the capsule, source distance and input headroom of the mixer or interface.
Filtering and balanced connection
A two-step bass-cut filter helps reduce unwanted low-frequency content, including rumble and vibration entering the recording. Audio is delivered through a balanced three-pin XLR output. The module requires 48 V phantom power from a compatible microphone input, making it suitable for studio or stage signal chains with an appropriate condenser capsule.
A separate preamp with stand adapter
This package contains the standalone C480 B ULS preamplifier and an SA60 stand adapter. The compatible capsule is selected separately. This allows a specific ULS configuration to be assembled or an existing collection of components to be extended. Select the pickup pattern and mounting arrangement according to the intended recording task.
