🎺 Why Important
📐 50% of Tone
Only contact between lips and trumpet. Affects tone, range, endurance, volume. Mouthpiece upgrade = first improvement after student trumpet.
🎵 No "Best"
Ideal = individual. Depends on lips, teeth, style, repertoire. Try several before buying.
🎯 When to Change
After 1–2 years on stock. When embouchure formed. Don't change often! 2–4 weeks adaptation minimum.

Smaller (10.5C = 15.80): easier high, thinner. Lead. Larger (1C = 17.00): fuller, projection. Orchestra. Medium (7C = 16.20, 3C = 16.30): universal.
🔷 Cup Depth
Shallower (A, B): brighter, high — lead. Deeper (C, D): darker — orchestra. C = standard. Start with C always.
🔷 Rim, Throat, Backbore
Rim: wider = comfort, narrower = flexibility. Throat: smaller = control, larger = freer. Backbore: projection, intonation. Beginners = standard.

Bach 7C (~5). Don't change first year! Or Yamaha 11C4 (~0). 7C = right start.
🎺 First Upgrade
Bach 5C: gentle transition. Bach 3C: most popular upgrade. 7C→5C→3C. Don't jump to 1.5C!
🎺 Orchestra
Bach 3C standard. 1.5C experienced powerful. 1C very large. Orchestra = 3C start.
🎺 Jazz
