Muramatsu is passion for the flute incarnate.  It was she who allowed the Japanese craftsman and flutist Koichi Muramatsu to create his first handmade flute in 1923.  His persistence and musicianship became a solid foundation for Muramatsu instruments to be considered the world's finest hand-made flutes.  At the time when master Koichi actually founded the modern Muramatsu family company, the number of flutists in Japan - amateurs and professionals - was no more and no less than 20 people.  However, Koichi Muramatsu stubbornly created the future: his selfless efforts and love for the flute are still at the core of Muramatsu's philosophy.  The founder often repeated that every master should be a flutist at the same time: "Without knowing the flute, we will not be able to meet the requirements of all flutists."  This position of his was adopted by modern Japanese master flutists.  Conscientious study of the instrument reinforces the motivation of craftsmen to create better hand-made flutes.  Muramatsu employees' love for the flute, combined with constant research, development and testing, has earned the firm the trust and respect of the worldwide flutist community.  The fruits of the hard work of the founder and the efforts of his descendants (the company is headed by the third generation of the Muramatsu family) allowed us to develop unique instruments that are desired by musicians all over the world - both soloists and members of orchestral ensembles.  Muramatsu flutes have gradually evolved to claim the position of world leader in their field.  In Muramatsu's ranking of musicians, the "man with the golden flute" is Sir James Galway, who is the most influential flutist of our time.  The famous flautist Sharon Betsali also plays the Muramatsu flute.  Today, Muramatsu continues to strive to implement demanding scientific standards in the design of new flutes.  Production, combining ancient Japanese traditions and philosophy, as well as modern means, aimed at precious instruments.  The production of Muramatsu flutes is an exclusively handmade process that involves the use of silver, gold and platinum.
