Overhead sound pickup
The Samson CM12C is designed for suspension above a choir, orchestra or stage area. Its compact black body allows the microphone to sit above performers while keeping the space in front of them clear. A cardioid condenser capsule focuses pickup towards the selected area. The microphone suits installed sound systems and recordings of group performances.
Cable and positioning
The hardwired cable measures 30 feet, approximately 9 metres. A steel hanging bracket helps aim the capsule and maintain its angle. Choose a suspension point that covers the required part of the ensemble. Height and angle affect the balance between nearby voices and the group as a whole, so assess the position during rehearsal.
Adapter and phantom power
A female mini-XLR connector terminates the cable and connects to the included PM5 adapter. The adapter provides a standard male XLR connection for a suitable microphone input. The CM12C requires 9–52 V phantom power and has a frequency range of 50–18,000 Hz. Set input gain using the loudest passage and leave sufficient headroom.
Supplied accessories
The package includes the CM12C with its cable, a steel hanging bracket, the PM5 adapter and a windscreen. Check the suspension, adapter connection and cable routing before use. The windscreen helps reduce air disturbance around the capsule. Listen to the complete ensemble through the sound system before finalising direction and operating level.
