Speech pickup for lecterns
The Samson CM20P is designed for speech reinforcement at lecterns, podiums and presentation positions. Its cardioid condenser capsule favours sound arriving from the front, helping separate the speaker’s voice from surrounding noise. Aim the microphone towards the speaker and set the preamp gain to suit the working distance and room acoustics. It provides a practical fixed microphone position for repeated presentations.
Flexible positioning
The CM20P measures 20 inches overall, approximately 51 cm. Flexible sections at the top and bottom surround a rigid centre section. This arrangement allows the capsule to be brought towards the speaker and angled as required while maintaining a neat, straight main profile. The metal housing has a matte black finish for installation use.
Filtering and phantom power
The specified frequency range is 60 Hz–16 kHz. An internal selectable 100 Hz high-pass filter helps attenuate rumble and low-frequency mechanical noise. Operation requires 9–52 V phantom power from a compatible mixer, microphone preamp or separate supply. Select an input that provides both the required power and suitable microphone gain.
Connection and mounting
A standard three-pin male XLR connector is fitted at the base. It connects to an appropriate socket or microphone cable with a female XLR connector. The package includes flange mounting hardware and a windscreen to help reduce air blasts during speech. Allow space for the connector and cable routing underneath the mounting surface when planning the installation.
