The E holds 8.0 kp while every other string sits between 4.7 and 5.5 kp. In practice that is a high ceiling before the string gives up: the top does not fray at fortissimo and fast passages do not tip into a whistle under extra pressure. It is also what gives the whole Gold set its springy feel in first position.

This is the ball-end version, for a standard tailpiece tuner. If your tailpiece or fine-tuner needs a loop, Pirastro makes the identical string as 315521: same material, same 8.0 kp, only the termination differs. Checking what is on the violin right now is enough to decide.
