Five microphones for a drum setup
The Superlux DRKA3C2 provides five microphones for drums on stage and in rehearsal rooms. The set divides the work between kick drum, individual drums and cymbal pickup. Each microphone can be positioned and adjusted independently, allowing the channel balance to suit the kit, the drummer’s playing style and the sound of the room.
Three dynamic microphones
One PRA218A covers kick drum and other low-frequency instruments. Two PRA228A microphones suit toms and snare. All three use dynamic capsules with supercardioid pickup patterns. Changing distance and angle relative to the drumhead helps balance attack and resonance. Listen to each position within the complete mix before committing to a particular placement.
A condenser pair for cymbals
Two PRA268AH supercardioid condenser microphones cover cymbals, hi-hat and overhead positions. These microphones require phantom power and can be used with suitable microphone inputs supplying 48 V. After positioning the pair, check the combined channels in mono and adjust their placement if parts of the kit become less clear or lose balance.
Mounting and package
The package includes one PRA218A, two PRA228A, two PRA268AH, five thread adapters and a hard plastic case. All five microphones have permanently attached swivel holders. Choose stands and cables for the intended layout and mixer inputs. The case keeps the set organised between rehearsals, performances and recording sessions.
