Acoustic measurement and recording
The Superlux ECM999 is designed for room analysis, sound system measurements and recording. Its smooth response helps capture the sound at the microphone position without deliberate emphasis on a particular frequency region. Used with suitable measurement equipment or an audio interface, it provides a practical way to assess a loudspeaker system in a room.
Omnidirectional condenser capsule
The prepolarized condenser capsule picks up sound from around the microphone. This makes the ECM999 suitable for examining a sound field and for recording room ambience, choirs, piano or drum overheads. Its narrow body makes positioning straightforward. Placement should reflect the measurement task, source location and the acoustic conditions of the space being assessed.
XLR connection and phantom power
A three-pin male XLR output carries the analog microphone signal. Connect it with a microphone cable to a suitable input providing phantom power; a standard 48 V source can power the ECM999. Recording level is adjusted on the connected equipment. Computer-based measurement requires an appropriate audio interface to receive the microphone signal and supply power.
Mounting and supplied accessories
The package contains one ECM999 microphone, a microphone stand holder, a foam windscreen and a protective carrying case. The holder secures the microphone during positioning, while the case provides storage for transport between measurement sessions. With its black body and compact capsule housing, the ECM999 serves both acoustic analysis work and ambient or ensemble recording applications.
