Discreet overhead pickup
The Superlux PRA52B is designed to hang above a choir, instrumental ensemble or performance area. Its compact black housing keeps the microphone visually unobtrusive in a camera shot and from audience seating. Suspending the capsule also leaves the floor clear and allows its pickup position to follow the arrangement of the performers.
Cardioid condenser capsule
The cardioid capsule favours sound arriving from the front and reduces pickup from behind. Suspension height, distance and aiming therefore matter when balancing an ensemble against room ambience. A frequency range of 40 Hz–18 kHz suits speech and musical sources, while the room acoustics and chosen position remain important parts of the resulting sound.
Cable and phantom power
A permanently attached 10 m cable allows the capsule to hang at the required height while the connection remains away from the performance area. An inline adapter terminates the signal path in a three-pin male XLR connector. The microphone requires 12–52 V phantom power from a suitable microphone input or an appropriate external phantom supply.
Positioning and supplied parts
The spring wire holder aims the microphone towards the source and helps retain the selected angle. The supplied assembly includes the microphone, cable and power adapter, together with foam wind protection and mounting hardware. The windscreen reduces air movement at the capsule. Choose a position away from direct ventilation and check the pickup with performers in their actual places.
