Construction and playing feel
The central body and neck are mahogany, with a rosewood-and-maple outline frame. Without the large resonating cavity of a traditional acoustic guitar, the unplugged sound is much quieter. String movement and contact with the frets remain audible: SILENT does not mean completely silent. The upper frame section detaches for transport in the supplied bag and must be securely reattached before playing.
This version is Natural. Screen colour depends on lighting and display settings; natural wood grain varies between individual instruments.
Electronics and tone control
SRT Powered blends the piezo signal with modelling of a microphone-recorded acoustic guitar’s resonance. SRT Blend adjusts the balance between the pickup’s direct attack and a fuller acoustic impression. Bass and Treble shape the frequency balance, while Reverb 1, Reverb 2 and Chorus add ambience without a separate processor. Start with a dry sound to assess articulation, then introduce the effect gradually.
Connection, practice and recording
For practice, power the guitar, connect wired headphones to PHONES and start at low volume. AUX IN accepts a backing track from a player or phone, with separate accompaniment level control. Use LINE OUT with a suitable acoustic amplifier, mixer or DI input for stage work. Computer recording requires an audio interface: the SLG200 has no USB audio port. Power comes from two AA batteries or a compatible Yamaha adapter, sold separately.
