Wired connection for compact microphones
The Audix APS910 connects a compatible electret microphone to a mixing console, audio interface or other device with an XLR microphone input. It adapts the microphone's power requirements to the phantom source provided by the receiving equipment. This makes it a useful component in a wired setup built around a compact microphone with a mini-XLR connector.
Power conversion for the microphone
The APS910 converts phantom power to 2.5 V for compatible electret microphones with an internal impedance converter and load. A standard 48 V phantom source can power the adapter through its full-size XLR connection. The microphone receives the appropriate supply through the adapter while its audio signal travels to the connected microphone input.
Connectors and signal routing
The input is a three-pin male mini-XLR that accepts the compatible microphone's female mini-XLR connector. The full-size male XLR output mates with a standard microphone cable leading to the mixer. The output supports a balanced microphone cable run. Connector keys establish the correct orientation, and the console should be muted or switched off before connections are changed.
Compatibility and construction
Supported Audix microphones include the ADX40, ADX60 and MicroD. Selection should account for electrical compatibility as well as connector shape. A die-cast zinc alloy body, black finish and gold-plated contacts provide the adapter's physical construction. This standalone APS910 adapter is intended to complete an existing microphone setup with a suitable wired connection.
