Toms, percussion and brass
The Audix f2 is a compact Fusion Series dynamic microphone for stage and studio use. It suits rack and floor toms, congas, saxophone, brass, guitar cabinets and bass cabinets. Its low-mass LM diaphragm covers 52 Hz–15 kHz. The small body is easy to position near an instrument while leaving the performer room to play.
Pickup pattern and placement
Hypercardioid pickup helps focus on an individual source and reduce spill from neighbouring instruments. For a tom, start above the drumhead with the grille aimed towards its centre. Adjust height and angle to balance attack and resonance. Moving across a guitar speaker from the centre towards its edge helps change the brightness of the sound.
Construction and microphone output
A die-cast zinc-alloy body with a black finish and steel mesh grille protects the capsule. The balanced three-pin male XLR output connects to a microphone input on a mixer or audio interface. Phantom power is not required. Set gain at the instrument’s actual performance level, leaving headroom for strong accents and drum hits.
Single microphone and accessories
The package contains one f2 microphone, a nylon DCLIP mounting clip and a P1 carrying pouch. Use the clip with a compatible stand and the pouch for storage between performances. Choose cables, stands and specialist drum-rim mounts separately. After positioning, check clearance for the drummer’s sticks and avoid cable tension at the connector.
