Compact drum microphone
The Audix MicroD captures drums and percussion for live sound and recording. Its miniature condenser capsule has a hypercardioid pickup pattern and a 40 Hz to 20 kHz response for capturing attack and detail. The small microphone head fits within closely spaced drum setups where positioning room around the instrument is limited.
Rim mounting and isolation
The included DVICEMICRO clamp attaches to the drum rim. Its flexible gooseneck positions the capsule over the head, while a rubber shockmount within an aluminium ring reduces transmitted vibration. Keep the capsule side openings clear when inserting it into the mount. Secure the cable along the holder with some slack to avoid pulling at the microphone connection.
Adapter and phantom power
The attached microphone lead ends in a three-pin female mini-XLR connector that plugs into the APS910 adapter. The adapter provides a full-size three-pin male XLR output for connection to a mixer or microphone preamp. MicroD requires 9–52 V phantom power through this adapter. Select a separate XLR cable for the connection from APS910 to the microphone input.
Package and setup
The package contains one Audix MicroD with its attached lead, a DVICEMICRO mount with gooseneck and shockmount, an APS910 adapter, a foam windscreen and a P1 pouch. Check the clamp and leave clearance for drumsticks before playing. Adjust capsule placement while listening to the instrument, then use the pouch for storage and transport between sessions.
