Cort MBM-2H Sustainiac (Red Sparkle) is a 6-string electric guitar with a 648 mm scale and 22 frets.
This version combines a Red Sparkle finish, Manson Bridge Humbucker / Sustainiac H (Neck) pickups and a Tune-O-Matic / Stop Tailpiece bridge. It supports rhythm parts, melodies and technique practice; your amplifier and picking approach also shape the final sound.
MBM-2H Sustainiac in detail
The neck Sustainiac works as both a pickup and a driver that sustains string vibration. Two mini toggles activate the system and select Normal, Mix or Harmonic modes for held notes and evolving overtones. The system needs battery power; the bridge Manson humbucker supplies the main guitar signal while the driver sustains the strings. A Kill button adds rhythmic breaks, while the Soft V neck and body contours support longer playing sessions. The Red Sparkle version combines a glitter finish with chrome hardware, 22 Medium Jumbo frets and a laurel fingerboard.
Construction and playing feel
Body: American Basswood. Neck: Hard Maple. Fingerboard: Laurel. The 648 mm scale is paired with 22 frets and a 42 mm nut width. The Soft V profile describes the shape of the back of the neck.
The 305–400 mm fingerboard radius describes its crosswise curvature. This compound radius becomes flatter towards the upper frets. Consider the radius together with the neck profile, action and your approach to bending strings.
Pickups and controls
The Manson Bridge Humbucker / Sustainiac H (Neck) system uses a H / Sustainiac layout. Controls: 1 Volume / 1 Tone / Kill Button / Sustainiac On-Off / Normal-Mix-Harmonic. The selector provides 3 positions.
The humbucker element of this layout suits full chords and overdriven lead parts. Try different selector positions with the amplifier settings unchanged to hear differences in attack and frequency balance.
Bridge and maintenance
The fixed Tune-O-Matic / Stop Tailpiece bridge suits riff work and lead playing without an arm. Stretch new strings before final tuning, and check intonation and neck relief after a gauge change. Set intonation in your intended tuning.
The hardware includes Cort Staggered Locking tuners. Factory string gauge: D’Addario EXL110 (.010–.046). Wiping the strings and hardware after playing helps maintain the instrument.
