Gibson SG Standard '61 (Tobacco Sunburst) is a 6-string electric guitar with a 628.65 mm scale and 22 frets.
This version combines a Tobacco Sunburst finish, Gibson 60s Burstbucker (Neck) / 60s Burstbucker (Bridge) pickups and a ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic / Aluminum Stop Bar bridge. It supports rhythm parts, melodies and technique practice; your amplifier and picking approach also shape the final sound.

SG Standard '61 in detail
The SG Standard ’61 follows the early SG formula with a slimmer SlimTaper neck, small pickguard and pronounced double-cut bevels. Two 60s Burstbuckers provide individual neck and bridge voices plus their combined sound. Hand-wired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors give each pickup its own volume and tone control. This Stop Bar version uses a fixed tailpiece; it is not fitted with a Maestro or Vibrola system.
Construction and playing feel
Body: Mahogany. Neck: Mahogany. Fingerboard: Rosewood. The 628.65 mm scale is paired with 22 frets and a 43.05 mm nut width. The SlimTaper profile describes the shape of the back of the neck.
The 304.8 mm fingerboard radius describes its crosswise curvature. Consider the radius together with the neck profile, action and your approach to bending strings.
Pickups and controls
The Gibson 60s Burstbucker (Neck) / 60s Burstbucker (Bridge) system uses a HH layout. Controls: 2 Volume / 2 Tone. The selector provides 3 positions.
The humbucker element of this layout suits full chords and overdriven lead parts. Try different selector positions with the amplifier settings unchanged to hear differences in attack and frequency balance.

Bridge and maintenance
The fixed ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic / Aluminum Stop Bar bridge suits riff work and lead playing without an arm. Stretch new strings before final tuning, and check intonation and neck relief after a gauge change. Set intonation in your intended tuning.
The hardware includes Vintage Deluxe with Keystone Buttons tuners. Factory string gauge: .010–.046. Wiping the strings and hardware after playing helps maintain the instrument.
