Harley Benton MultiScale-8 QBB + HB-40MFX is a pack built around the MultiScale-8 QBB electric guitar and HB-40MFX combo amplifier.
This version combines a Quilted Satin Black Burst finish, 2 × HBZ Ferrite Hi-Gain Humbucker pickups and a Mono Rail Type X8 String-Through bridge. The pack forms a practical playing setup: the guitar creates the initial signal, and the amplifier supplies volume and its own tone-shaping controls.
Construction and playing feel
Body: Poplar. Neck: 5-Piece Okoume / Nato. Fingerboard: Purple Heart. Top: Quilted Maple Veneer. The 648–686 mm scale is paired with 24 frets and a 56.6 mm nut width. The Modern C profile describes the shape of the back of the neck.
The 400 mm fingerboard radius describes its crosswise curvature. Consider the radius together with the neck profile, action and your approach to bending strings.
The 648–686 mm multiscale layout gives the bass strings a longer speaking length than the treble strings. Fanned frets and individual bridge units follow that geometry. The 8 strings extend the lower range; set intonation in your intended tuning for accurate riff work.
Pickups and controls
The 2 × HBZ Ferrite Hi-Gain Humbucker system uses a HH layout. Controls: 1 Volume / 1 Tone. The selector provides 3 positions.
The humbucker element of this layout suits full chords and overdriven lead parts. Try different selector positions with the amplifier settings unchanged to hear differences in attack and frequency balance.
Bridge and maintenance
The fixed Mono Rail Type X8 String-Through bridge suits riff work and lead playing without an arm. Stretch new strings before final tuning, and check intonation and neck relief after a gauge change. Set intonation in your intended tuning.
The hardware includes DLX Locking tuners. Factory string gauge: .010/.013/.017/.030/.042/.054/.064/.074. Wiping the strings and hardware after playing helps maintain the instrument.
