Detail for acoustic instruments
The Austrian Audio CC8 is a small-diaphragm condenser microphone for acoustic guitar, piano, strings, wind instruments and percussion. Its cardioid pattern focuses pickup towards the source in front of the capsule, while the compact body helps positioning around instruments. It suits studio recording and live reinforcement, including cymbals and drum overheads where attack and detail matter.
OCC7 capsule and controls
The OCC7 condenser capsule works with a transformerless output stage. A pad offers 0, −10 and −20 dB settings to accommodate louder sources. The low-cut filter provides 60 Hz and 120 Hz settings alongside a linear position. Use it to reduce unwanted low-frequency rumble while maintaining the microphone’s chosen position, then listen to the result within the arrangement.
Connection and phantom power
A balanced three-pin XLR output connects to a compatible microphone input supplying 48 V phantom power. Lower the channel level before connecting, then enable phantom power. Choose the distance and angle to the instrument, check the signal during the loudest passage and set input gain with appropriate headroom. Fine-tune placement before adding further processing.
Single set and future pairing
The package contains one CC8, an OCH8 microphone clip, a CCW8 windscreen and a carrying case. Factory sensitivity calibration at 1 kHz helps when pairing it with another CC8 later. This set contains one microphone; stereo recording requires an additional microphone and input. Keep the accessories together and protect the capsule from dirt between sessions.
