PRS S2 Custom 24 (Purple). The S2 Custom 24 uses an asymmetrically beveled maple top, mahogany back and set neck. Two 85/15 “S” humbuckers work with a three-way selector and push/pull tone control. Its tremolo and 24-fret fingerboard support expressive lead playing, while coil-split sounds offer a lighter accompaniment texture.
Body and neck
Body Construction: Solidbody; Top Wood: Quilted Maple; Back Wood: Mahogany.
Neck: Mahogany; profile Pattern Thin; fingerboard Rosewood; radius 10"; scale 25"; 24 frets.
Playing comfort depends on neck shape, scale and string action together. Check thumb support for chords, then upper-fret access and bending feel for lead work. Natural wood grain varies between instruments, so transparent finishes highlight the character of each guitar.
Pickups and controls
Treble Pickup: 85/15 “S”; Bass Pickup: 85/15 “S”.
Volume, push/pull Tone, 3-way selector.
The three-way selector chooses bridge, both pickups or neck. Pulling the tone knob adds a coil-split setting for a leaner response. Turning Tone adjusts treble, while Volume changes the signal level before it reaches the amplifier.
Bridge and hardware
PRS Patented Tremolo, Molded. Tuners: PRS Low Mass Locking.
The tremolo adds vibrato to chords and melodies. Smooth arm use, a properly functioning nut and correctly installed strings help it return to pitch. Check spring balance and intonation after changing gauges. Locking tuners, where fitted, simplify securing the string to its post.
