PRS SE Custom 24 (Charcoal Cherry Burst). The SE Custom 24 brings the familiar PRS layout into the SE range: 24 frets, a 25-inch scale, a maple Wide Thin neck and a tremolo bridge. Its two 85/15 “S” humbuckers are paired with a push/pull tone control for coil splitting. This provides a useful way to move between fuller rhythm parts and leaner accompaniment while keeping the amplifier at the same basic gain setting.

Body, neck and playing feel

Top Wood: Maple; Veneer: Flame Maple; Back Wood: Mahogany.

Neck profile: Wide Thin. Scale length: 25"; frets: 24. Fingerboard: Rosewood. Radius: 10". Neck joint: Set.

Playing comfort depends on the combination of neck profile, scale length and string action. Fingerboard radius describes curvature, not neck thickness. Check thumb comfort for chords, and upper-fret access and bending feel for lead playing.

Pickups and controls

The three-way blade selector chooses bridge, both pickups or neck. A master volume controls the output, while the tone knob rolls off treble and adds coil-split sounds through its push/pull function. Compare neck and bridge settings with moderate gain for lead lines, then try the combined position for rhythm. Listening in the context of an arrangement is more useful than choosing only the loudest or brightest setting in isolation.

Bridge and hardware

PRS Patented Tremolo. Tuners: PRS Designed Tuners.

The tremolo adds vibrato and smooth pitch changes with the arm. Its feel depends on spring balance, string gauge and bridge setup. After changing string gauge, check tuning, intonation and action. Start with gentle arm movements and listen to how the notes return to pitch before using a wider range.

Playing and recording applications

For rock, pop, fusion, studio rhythm parts and lead work reaching the 24th fret.

Accessories and connection

Choose an electric guitar combo amplifier for practice or rehearsal. Add guitar effects when you need overdrive, delay or modulation; first compare the guitar’s main sounds without effects so you can hear how the controls change its dynamics.

Keep suitable electric guitar strings and instrument and patch cables available for maintenance and connection. Add a guitar strap for standing practice, a guitar tuner for tuning checks between songs, and suitable guitar stands and holders for your playing space. Match replacement string gauge to this model’s scale and tuning.
