A pair for stereo recording
The Samson C02 package contains two matched small-diaphragm condenser microphones. Use them for acoustic guitar, piano, percussion, ensembles or drum overheads. Matching their sensitivity helps when working with two channels of stereo sound. Each C02 can also record a separate source when a session calls for individual instrument microphones.
Pickup pattern and placement
The cardioid pattern concentrates pickup in front of the capsule while reducing sound from the sides and rear. Choose distance and angle by listening to the balance of attack, instrument tone and room ambience. For stereo recording, check both channels together after positioning the pair, including mono compatibility. This helps establish a natural spatial balance.
Mounting and protection
Slim brass bodies are easy to position on microphone stands. The supplied shock-mounted clips help reduce mechanical noise transmitted through the supports, while foam windscreens reduce air movement noise. Store the microphones and accessories in the protective case between sessions. Check that the holders are securely positioned, particularly when the pair is used above a drum kit.
Connection and package
Each C02 has a three-pin male XLR output and requires 48 V phantom power. Prepare two microphone inputs and suitable cables for stereo recording, then set channel levels at the mixer or audio interface. The package contains two C02 microphones, two shock-mounted clips, two foam windscreens and a carrying case. Cables, stands and equipment supplying phantom power are selected separately.
