❓ FAQ
Why are bari reeds more expensive?
Bigger size = more cane = higher price. Bari ~30–50% more than alto. Also lower demand. This is normal!
Bari reeds = alto/tenor?
NO! Bari (Eb) = biggest standard reeds. Don't fit alto (smaller Eb!) or tenor (Bb). Check "Baritone Sax."
Java / V16 for big band?
Java = brighter, more powerful, modern. V16 = "darker," vintage, classic big band. Both great! Start with Java 2.
Bari = doubling?
Often! Many altists/tenorists double on bari. Légère synthetic = ideal for doubling! Always ready.
Why thinner than alto?
Bari mouthpiece much more open. More open = thinner reed. Alto 3 → bari 2.5. Don't jump to thick!
Which series NOT available?
Vandoren ZZ = alto/tenor only. JUNO = alto/tenor only. Traditional, Java, V16, V12, Select Jazz = available for bari.
